Back-Country Skating

Some of you who visited this summer either drove past Potter Marsh on your way to Seward, or took a walk here on the boardwalk.

We've been hovering right around 30 degrees for a few weeks, so the marsh is just barely iced over.  In a few spots we heard the sound of ice cracking, water gushing, and then watched a crack spread for several feet starting from where we were standing.   An erie sound, but considering the water isn't that deep we kept on skating.
