We had the day off together on Wednesday, and decided to go for a hike at the Nature Center in Eagle River. It was a beautiful drive about an hour north of Anchorage. One of our favorite hikes so far because it was so different than all the others being surrounded by mountains.
We only ran into one other hiker on the 4 mile loop. Pretty low key trail, though very icy. There were a few side trails that lead to cabins and yurts as well as a campground and river throughout the hike. The only wildlife we saw was a squirrel unfortunately, but better than a starving bear. (We've heard we should be careful hiking this week because it's been so warm here the bears can be tricked into thinking they should come out of hibernation).
