Pete and I had the weekend off together last week, so we took a look at our bucket list for Alaska and picked one. We ended up going to Hatchers Pass, a hiking area we had been recommended to try out. It is about an hour drive north of Anchorage near Wasilla. We heard the drive up there is beautiful, so we made sure to leave just as the sun came up. We had a lot of fun. We felt like we were in the middle of nowhere surrounded by mountains. We didn't see a ton of people on the trail, but most people that we met had snowshoes or skis on, but we managed with just our boots. If we stepped off the hardened trail however we would lose our legs under at least 2 feet of snow.
