Snowmachine

Here in Alaska Snowmobiles are called Snowmachines.  After our trip to Fairbanks and seeing all the open land Alaska has to offer, we decided a snowmachine would be a fun way to check out all the beautiful trails.  We rented from a Minnesota-family business in Petersville which is just South of Denali.  After returning back to Anchorage from our adventures,  I told Pete is was the best thing we've done in Alaska so far.  

There was So much land to explore.  We did a 70 mile loop and then some: some of the loop was in wide open spaces with a very clear view of Denali, some in the wilderness with trees all around us going up and down hills.  We hardly met anyone else on the trail, though we'd occasionally see a cabin that is accessed only by snowmobile or ATV.  We stopped at a small lodge in the middle of nowhere.  Also only accessed by snowmobile.  The menu only included 5 things, all very pricey (because we're in the middle of nowhere) and after the table next to us ordered he crossed something else off the whiteboard menu.  It was interesting to say the least, but a very cool experience.
