29 Years of Life

Pete celebrated his 29th birthday on Friday. 

It was a pretty sweet day that we got to spend together.  Pete originally was supposed to work, but got out of it so that we could both volunteer at an event called Mission of Mercy Dental Clinic that Anchorage was putting on this year.

The clinic had over one thousand community volunteers, including 300 dentists, donate their time and resources to provide free dental care to local residents who otherwise are unable to receive treatment. By the time we left on Friday over 800 people had walked through the front doors to receive treatment. Some even camped outside overnight waiting for the doors to open.  Fun way to interact with some other people and be able to provide help to others. 

Second goal of the big day was to get outside and enjoy the outdoors and clock some more miles on the hiking trails.  We ended up hiking the McHugh Creek trail on the south end of Anchorage in Chugach State Park.  The trail had a steady incline, but it was definitely worth it.  God certainly made His beauty and strength  present for us.  The view was amazing we had to just sit and stare at it for awhile until we got to cold to stay any longer.  As we were sitting and staring we watched as at least 5 bald eagles soared right above us in circles.  As we hiked down the mountain, we were a little distracted and almost ran into a moose running right out in front of us.  Made the heart pound a little, but it was so cool!!
