A Place To Live

We are pretty well adjusted by now to the new time zone.  By the time we go to bed at night we are exhausted.  We're grateful we could come up here early before starting work because we've hardly taken a break getting settled since we got here. 

Here are our latest exciting developments!!

We made a friend!! We went to go look at a vehicle we found off craigslist...it was actually not this guys vehicle, but his roommattes who was out of town.  The car was taking forever to defrost, so in the meantime he asked if we wanted to go down to the local coffee shop Kaladi Bros, much like Dunn Bros in Minneosta for a warm drink.  Yes we hopped in this guys car with him, and yes we left the car off craigslist running in the driveway the entire time we were gone.  But, we enjoyed our conversation with him, and he's introduced us to several places we should check out in town.  He gave some good job suggestions to Pete, and before we left asked if we wanted to go to some of the places he recommended together sometime.  We think we may have convinced him to play Settlers or Ticket to Ride with us sometime! Sweet! 

We found an apartment!! We were sad we couldn't just take our apartment from Minnesota and bring it here, but we are pleased with the one we found.  We'll post some pictures of it once it looks a little homier, but we liked it because it's got lots of windows and a wood-burning fireplace.  We made our first dinner here last night!! No more continental breakfast or dollar menu! 

Prices at thrift stores here are outrageous!! A used mattress for $400, Old ratty couches for $250.  A drinking glass for $3.  Unfortunately we've been having to do quite a bit of driving around to find deals all over the city.  We've bought a few things new and cheap because they were cheaper than the thrift store, including this table.

 We still don't have a vehicle.  The 4-Runner we liked sold just before we told them we wanted it.  Not meant to be. We have until Friday evening before we have to return our rental truck.  So, our mission today is to find a something that will work for us in this winter season.
