Have you ever eaten corn on the cob with no teeth???

We purchased a vehicle last night!  Glad to be done with the search.  We bought it from Trinity Christian Reformed Church in town.  Funny thing is, my home church in Iowa is Trinity Christian Reformed Church.  Interesting....

Here is is....A 2001 Mitsubishi Montero.  It's pretty basic, but it's got 4 wheel drive, which was what we were looking for to make it through the Alaskan winter.  

We also purchased used studded tires for it today.  When talking to Dan the guy behind the counter at the tire place, we mentioned we are newbies when it comes to studded tires, and asked if they were really necessary.  Of course he is a salesman, but after finding out I was from Iowa, here's the analogy he used to convince us they were really necessary.

It doesn't go so well does it?

Well, the studs are like your teeth.  They help you grip the ice.  

You probably had to be there, but it made us laugh. He was pretty goofy.

Pete will be in his element in the next couple days getting the car together.  Oiling the hinges on the doors, replacing the windshield wipers, changing the oil, etc. 

Yesterday our friend Chris invited us to try out a local restaurant Acai Alaska. 

We weren't really quite sure what to expect, but we weren't necessarily expecting this.  

You can mix and match what is in your Acai bowl, but it's full of healthy stuff (Acai base, tons of fresh fruit, chia seeds, hemp seeds, flax, granola, chocolate covered almonds, coconut, Goji berry, macadamia nuts, and walnuts.  

It was delicious, and exciting to try something unique to Alaska.  However, we were both ready to go across the street afterwards to get something filled with meat at Arby's:)  We held back though.

On another note....tomorrow we will celebrate the gift of being married for a year.  Time flies when you're having fun! It feels like just a few months ago we were addressing our wedding invitations. 

Tomorrow we will be putting aside our big-to-do list and go out and adventure together in Anchorage.  We're definitely excited to do some exploring and perhaps do some hiking. 

Maybe we'll see a Moose!!!
